A month ago, I’d have smiled gleefully and answered myself: NOPE! YOU’RE EARNING > YOU SPEND.
A month later (today), I smile sadly and whisper (in my head): My, Michelle you have 0 financial planning capabilities.
I used to frown upon a friend’s “financial planning”. She’d whip out a notebook, and detail how she would spend every single cent of her allowance.
Then, saving 80% of my allowance was my money mantra.
Clearly, it has changed.
Anyway, I was just wondering, WHY DO PEOPLE SPEND SO MUCH MONEY $$ ON BOOKS?! How many times can you read a single book? I mean, if you read it like 10 times honestly, either 1. you’re mad or 2. you’re mad.
Honestly.
But why don’t people invest in clothes?
Shoes?
Bags???
WHY?!

So anyway, you need to be acquainted with the price of high street fashion to acknowledge that things in Singapore are really cheap – and for good reason. Simple clothes in UK cost 20 pounds (that’s like 60SGD??)

Anyways, some clothes are really tasteless (I realised.) I still can’t find a way to wear that rubbish bag dress.
I thought about how to sell it. The caption will be as follows

Korean and Jap fashion’s cool, and totally different from UK / US fashion. Singapore fashion = Topshop/Mango fashion. Scratch that, make it Singapore fashion = Topshop.
SIGH, and Topshop isn’t even local.
Meanwhile, I have befriended a Romanian designer who has AWESOME pieces. I’m probably going to bring in a few of her designs so to all those who don’t mind spending money on a cool design that you -definitely- won’t see anyone else in Singapore (or Asia) wearing. Her designs are really awesome. Damn! I’m completely in love with a certain piece, which I shan’t post on my blog yet. Everything will be one-off so basically they are unique and lovely and the designer’s so nice! (no worries the prices are comparable to Topshop BUT not so mass-produced) And she’s only 21. Haha.
The other day Liben and I trudged around for awhile (2h) looking for this shop that I wanted to visit because they were the only store in Singapore to bring in a certain UK brand of shoes. We found it AT LAST and initially the lady seemed -rather- friendly (with all due respect service does not mean pasting a WIIIDDDEEEE smile on your face and attempting to speak with a pompous accent to appear all important and high class) but as time passed (yes deaaarrrr etc), the dripping sincerity was honestly just overbearing and disgusting, to say the least.
Needless to say, I didn’t get the shoes.
): Not because I am rich and walk out of such poor service shops (haha!!) but because the pair of shoes I FELL IN LOVE WITH was expensive. Sigh. But if you buy directly from the site, the UK price itself is higher already. (if you do the conversion from pounds)
Anyway, I had nightmares.
Why didn’t I buy that pair??
Kidding.
Anyway, that shop people were so awfully fake and annoying that they bished another local “fashion blog” for promoting C&K heels. Saying that although they don’t think C&K shoes are lousy and cheapskate, they shouldn’t be considered fashion. So mean!!
Nine West actually sells shoes at low prices, if you actually bother to look around for quality shoes.
Sigh I hope local shoes stores will start producing unique (cute cool whatever!!!) shoes for people aged 18 – 25 instead of mass producing designs that have been here since I was young. However one thing to point out, Jellies were initially for old grandmas. Now they are “fashion”. My. Please let this trend pass quickly.
I can’t understand why I liked flapping about in flats too ): I used to think they go with everything. Haha! Clearly I’m wrong.
And please. Sports shoes totally do not go with every look.
Some blog mentioned that flip-flops are the national footwear in Singapore.

But they are lovely, just not fashion hehehe.
PS: I’m determined not to buy a single piece of Topshop apparel! (because I already bought Topshop bangles so I can’t say -anything-) ): Overpriced mass-produced high street fashion. There’s this lady who lives in a -rather- 3rd World area, who has her own damn distinct and cool dress sense. She refuses to believe (like the rest of her village people) that fashion means looking like everyone else. Granted, if you think an outfit looks good on you, that’s your fashion, not anyone else’s. BUT I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE WOULD WANT TO WEAR EXACTLY THE SAME AS EVERYONE ELSE???? WEAR SCHOOL UNIFORMS COMPLAIN SO MUCH.
Tight long tshirt (ala Topshop) + black / red skinnies (ala Topshop) + ballet flats = Singapore uniform.
